Shinyong Kim began his writing work, publishing 「angdong-sipeon」 and six other poems in magabook 「yeondae-si-sasang」in 1988. In a category, so-called‘ poem of labor’, his works described the painful life or a sense of alienation of the urban poor through concrete imagination and awareness about the harsh reality. Calmly dissolved critical consciousness of civilization is also shown throughout his poetical works. These prove that the works of the poet had been created not by the theory of the literature, but by his own life experience. Kim, Shinyong shows a strong will to overcome the dryness of life, based on a sense of despair and alienation which the bottom of the world created. The will and the pain of the poet’s life moves toward the language of love for neighbors. An expression of his consciousness of writing makes expansion to world which embraces pain in the memory of the past and eyes of heart contacting with present life. One critic commented “Shinyong Kim is newly discovered poet in 2000’s poetry world”.
