A study on communication among participants of translational actions.
초록
영어
This case study analyzes some claims against translation services commissioned to and conducted by the Center for Interpreting and Translation of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Seoul, Korea. The findings show that the lack of communication with clients (39.7%) is one of three major causes of translation claims, along with translators’ mistakes (41.3%) and low readability (19%). This non-textual and non-linguistic cause of translation claims is attributable to diverse needs of the clients that the translation agency is supposed to gratify. A form of “translation briefs” with requirements of itemized information filled out by clients could be used to facilitate the communication between clients and translation agencies and thus reduce translation claims.
