As immigrants increase in Korea, the multi-cultural society became unavoidable of our life. The influx of immigrants, Korean language education plays an important role. To cope with this situation, Korean Government has made the various efforts for efficiently manage the Korean language education. We have not got a satisfying result, however. This study examined the policy promotion direction of the Korean language and discussed the agenda of government. In the first place, we need to make the Korean learning activities that multi-cultural families take part in those programs. Secondly, investigate the actual conditions of the Korean language leaning and use. Thirdly, we make an effort to make a good Korean education books. What is more, this society needs more research and development of books which is related in Korean language for specific purpose. Lost but not least, Korean language teacher training course was indicated. Fifth, it is required to develop korean text books and offer special class designed for students from multi-cultural families. We make sure the importance of the thing that immigrants who successfully put down roots in Korea will contribute to the national development and peace of human beings. We need to serve the Korean education program not only for general leaning Korean language but also the means of living a stable life in Korea. We offer assistance to immigrant for leaving in Korea as a member of our society.

우리 사회에 이민자가 급증함에 따라 다문화 사회의 도래는 피할 수 없는 현 실이 되었고 진전 과정에서 한국어 교육의 역할과 기능이 매우 중요해졌다. 또 한, 정부 부처에서도 이주 사회 구성원의 한국어 교육을 효율적으로 실시하기 위하여 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 그러나 아직도 만족할 만한 수준에 이르지 못하고 있다. 앞으로 다문화 사회의 발전과 진흥을 위해 한국어 교육이 나아가야 할 방향 과 정부 기관이 추진해야 할 과제는 대체로 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 가정과 함께하는 참여형 한국어 학습 활동을 적극적으로 전개 해야 한다. 둘째, 다문화 사회를 위한 한국어 교육을 원활하게 하기 위해 전국의 다문화 가정을 중심으로 다양한 실태 조사와 기초 연구를 강화해야 한다. 셋째, 내실 있는 한국어 교육 교재의 발간과 배포에 노력해야 한다. 특히, 국내 이주민이 급증 함에 따라 특수 목적에 맞는 표준화된 한국어 교재를 개발 하고 보급해야 한다. 넷째, 한국어 교육 전문가를 체계적으로 양성하고 재교육을 통해 전문성을 향상할 수 있도록 노력해야 한다. 다섯째, 다문화 가정의 학생들을 위해 특별반을 구성하여 운영하고 학생 수 준에 맞는 한국어 교재를 개발해야 한다. 다문화 사회의 조기 정착이야말로 우리나라 국가 발전의 원동력으로 이어지 며 전 세계 인류 평화를 보장하는 계기가 된다는 사실도 기억해야 할 것이다. 앞으로 다문화 사회를 위한 한국어 교육은 일반적인 언어 교육이 아니라 이들 이 생존해 가는 수단의 하나로 한국어 교육이 이루어져야 하며 한국 사회의 구 성원으로서 한국어를 배울 수 있도록 힘써 도와주어야 할 것이다.
