This thesis focuses on the demand forecasting of air transportation between South Korea and Mongolia. The traffic volume of two countries are continuously increasing due to the expansion of exchange of human and material resources of two countries. The countries established diplomatic relationship in 1990, and the scheduled flight has beeb put into service on South Korea-Mongolia line in April of 1996. The research questions of this study is to forecast the demand of air passenger transportation between the two countries. The result of forecasting by empirical analysis will be strategically used for operational planning of commercial airline and airport facilities, for mid‐term and long‐term, will also provide the opening of new air route, capacity management of air traffic, the financial investment and fleet planning with airline policy authority and decision maker of airline. In this study, time series analysis model is applied with the data of traffic volume of Incheon-Ulan Bator line, The result of this empirical study is, the demand will increase continuously and steadinessly. The effect of seasonal variations was meaningful to show the traditional pattern of air transportation demand.

한국과 몽골은 1990년 외교관계를 수립하고, 양국 정부간의 항공협정과 항공사 간의 상무협정을 거쳐 1996년부터 정기항공편을 취항해 오고 있다. 양국 간에는 항공교통을 통해 인적, 물적 교류를 촉진해 오면서 그동안 지속적으로 항공운송이 증가되어 왔다. 이와 같은 항공수요의 증가추세는 향후 양국의 인적 물적 교류 확대와 함께 미래에도 지속될 전 전망이다. 본 연구에서는 과거 운송실적자료를 이용 하여 미래의 운송수요를 예측하였다. 본 연구는 항공운송시장에 적합한 수요예측모형으로 시계열분석방법의 적합성을 검정하려는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 현재 정기항공편이 운항하고 있는 인천‐울란바토르 구간의 과거 항공여객운송실적 자료를 이용하여 ARIMA모형으로 수요를 추정하고 예측력을 검정하였다. 실제 자료를 이용한 분석 결과, 해당 구간의 운송수요는 지속적으로 증가할 것으로 예상되며, 표본기간동안 수요의 안정적인 증 가추세가 확인되었으며, 계절별 효과가 유의적으로 나타나고 있어 전형적인 항공수요의 패턴을 잘 보 여주고 있다. 또한 지속적인 증가추세는 특별한 외생요인이 작용하지 않은 한, 중단기적으로 유지될 것으로 판단된다.
