This writing focuses on a questionnaire regarding adolescent consciousness of human rights and analysis of the results. First, the topic has been categorized into three areas based on democratic citizens and human rights education: the importance of adolescent consciousness of human rights, categories of adolescent human rights, and social change and adolescent human rights education. Based on these, the questionnaire has been filled out accordingly for three areas: protection of human rights, realization of human rights, and human rights education. According to the human rights protection survey results, adolescent vary in their awareness of human rights recognition in our society and the protection of human rights according to sex, grade, performance at school, and family circumstances. In realizing human rights, adolescent responded that they would not ask for help if their rights were violated, with a low level of awareness of correcting a human rights violation. Most students have not received any education on human rights, and the necessity of education itself has been only negatively recognized. In conclusion, human rights education should take a new direction for adolescent to have a proper consciousness of human rights.

이 글은 인천지역 중고등학생을 대상으로 청소년 인권의식과 관련된 설문조사를 실시하고 그 결과 를 분석하고자 하였다. 먼저 청소년 인권의식과 인권교육에 대한 이론적 배경으로 청소년 인권의식의 중요성, 청소년 인권의 종류와 인권의식, 사회 환경 변화와 청소년 인권교육이라는 세 가지 항목을 나 누어 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 실시한 설문 조사에서는 인권 보호 실태, 인권 실현 노력, 인권교육 세 가지 영역으로 나누어 실시했다. 인권 보호 실태 조사 결과에 따르면 청소년들은 우리 사회의 인권 존중 정도와 자신의 인권 보호 정도에 대해 성별, 학년, 성적, 가정형편에 따라 인식의 차이가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 인권 실현 노력 부분에서는 청소년들이 인권 침해를 받았을 때 도움을 요청하지 않겠다 는 반응이 많았고 인권 침해의 구제 방법에 대한 인식도 대체로 낮게 나타났다. 인권교육 부분에서는 교육을 받아 본 적이 없는 학생이 다수였으며 교육의 필요성에 대해서도 부정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 결론적으로 청소년들이 바른 인권의식을 가지기 위해서는 청소년들의 인권의식을 고려한 인권교육이 새로운 방향에서 필요함을 밝히고자 하였다.
