This study investigates the effect of communication types of class teachers recognized by high school students on democratic citizenship of students. As a result, the democratic citizenship of high school students was significantly different according to the teachers' communication style. The democratic citizenship of high school students was the highest when they recognized their teachers' communication type as admissive-imperative. Overall, this means the importance of teachers' admissive attitudes of accepting the students' opinion actively and of encouraging and urging them to act on their own. The teachers' listening attitude is more important than the communication attitude and especially, it is shown that the teachers' acceptable listening attitude has an important influence on the students' democratic citizenship. When it comes to educational career, as their career becomes more, teachers tend to be more unacceptable and imperative. Therefore, the teachers in educational field should recognize all these conclusions themselves and try to develop more meaningful educational activity. Especially in-service education for communication skill should be reinforced for teachers.

본 연구는 담임교사가 학생들의 인성에 미치는 영향을 확인하기 위해 교사의 의사소통유형에 따른 민주 시민성의 차이를 양적으로 검증한 것이다. 교사의 의사소통은 경청태도를 중심으로 수용형과 비 수용형, 의사전달태도를 중심으로 촉구형과 명령형으로 나누어 이를 교차하여 네 가지 교사의 유형을 도출할 수 있다. 연구 결과 학생들의 민주 시민성에 영향을 주는 것은 경청태도의 측면이며 학생들의 의견을 귀기울여듣는 수용형 교사일수록 학생들의 민주 시민성에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인 되었다. 또한 남자교사일수록, 기혼일수록, 교육경력이 많을수록 비수용적 태도를 보이는 것으로 나타 나 향후 교사재교육과정에서 의사소통태도에 관한 개선이 시도될 필요성이 있을 것으로 보인다.
