Today all questions of justice are questions of global justice. The justice on the global dimension is not restricted to the areas of the economy and politics, but goes beyond the human life up to the ecological dimension. In spite of its characteristic universality and uniformity, globalization confronts us with a radical pluralism of ways of reasoning and of views of justice. Globalization as the global encounter of cultures and religions therefore requires us to pay attention to particularities and differences. As far as the world religions are global entities playing a key role in defining people’s particular identities and moral outlooks, and since their views on justice are bound to particular perspectives of religious commitment, it seems worthwhile to inquire what the Christian theological view of the justice of God and of justice in the world has to the philosophical and political dialogues on justice. Unlike the pre-modern reflection on justice focused on the issue of virtue relating justice to the notion of goodness or the modern reflection taking it a starting point from freedom as a principle of radical self-determination, contemporary philosophical reflection on justice is characterized by the following three changes in perspectives: 1. from the procedural views of justice to the substantive ones about the common good, 2. from the autonomous subject to the person in relationships, 3. from the conditions of a perfectly just society to the practices of growing justice. The theological reflection on justice based on creative justice from the justice of God corresponds to these challenges of philosophical reflection. The creative justice is not the human capacity for self-determination, but the fundamental and universal dignity granted to all human beings as images of God, which transcends the human standards of justice creatively. This view of creative justice which makes the whole world as the creature of God the equal subject matter of the justice of God(the creator) seems to be suitable for the universal character of globalization. And it establishes as enabling justice also the possibilities for improving the participation of individual people and community in just relationship by recognizing injustice to rectifying it and by increasing the opportunities of participation.

오늘날 정의의 문제는 개인적, 제도적 차원이나 국가의 차원을 넘어 전지구적 차원의 문제가 됐다. 범세계적 지평에서의 정의는 경제와 정치의 영역에 국한되지 않고, 인간의 삶을 넘어 생태적 차원마저 아우르고 있다. 세계화가 몰고 온 보편성과 통일성의 반대편에는, 그러나 서로 다른 관점과 사유에 입각한, 근본적으로 다원적인 정의의 개념이 엄존한다. 세계화를 통해 유발된 다양한 문화와 종교들의 경계 없는 만남은 보편적 통일성과 함께 개별성과 차이를 아울러 주목할 것을 요구한다. 종교는 초국가적인 보편적 실재이면서 사람들의 개별적 정체성과 도덕적 관점을 규정하는 결정적 계기로 기능한다. 그러나 종교들의 정의관은 특정종교의 세계관에 귀속돼 있고, 그런 이유에서 우리는 상호간의 대화를 통해서만 당해 종교 고유의 정의관에 접근할 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서, 이 글은 철학적, 정치학적 정의에 관한 논의에 기여할 수 있는 가능성을 시문하는 방식으로, 기독교 신학의 신적 정의와 세상의 정의에 관한 입장을 논구해보려 한다. 인간 본성의 실현을 중심으로 한 덕의 문제에 초점을 맞추었던 고대의 정의개념과 개별주체의 자기결정능력에 기초한 근대의 정의개념과 달리, 현대 철학에서 논의되는 정의개념은 1. 자유로운 개별주체들의 합의가 아니라 그들의 합의가 지향하는 목적과 공동선의 합치 여부와, 2. 추상화된 자율적 주체가 아니라 개인의 구체적인 삶의 소여를 구성하는 제반 사회적 계기들 속의 관계적 인격을, 나아가 3. 정의와 부정의 사이에서의 구체적 선택이 문제되는 현실 속에서, 완전하게 정의로운 사회라는 개념보다는 구체적 삶의 정황 속에서 인간의 역량과 총체적 여건 등을 토대로 이루어지는 상대적 정의의 실현을 중시한다는 데 근본적인 특징이 있다. 기독교 신학이 이해하는 신적 정의의 근간이 되는 창조적 정의 개념은 본질적으로 이러한 현대의 철학적 정의개념의 요구에 부응하는 것처럼 보인다. 창조적 정의는 인간의 자율적 능력에 근거한 정의가 아니라 하나님의 형상으로 창조된 인간이 하나님과의 관계 안에서 부여 받은 근원적 가능성으로, 부정의한 인간의 현실을 초월하는 창조성을 핵심으로 한다. 신의 피조물로 간주되는 세계 전체를 정의실현문제의 동등한 당사자로 간주하는 창조적 정의 개념은 본질적으로 세계화 시대의 보편적 성격에 부합하지만, 구체적 현실 속에서 실천의 능력을 부여하는 창조적 정의를 통해 현실 속에 존재하는 부정의한 현실을 폭로하고 구체적인 참여를 통해 그 현실을 개선함으로써 상대적 정의의 실현을 위한 원동력을 동시에 제공한다.
