Electric vehicle promotion policies are increasing in many countries, for market share of electric vehicle in the future car market is expected very high. There are many problems to solve for the commercialization of electric vehicle such as short driving distance, high vehicle price, long charging time, standardization of infrastructure, establishment of ecosystem. Meanwhile, electric vehicle development project initiated by RWTH Aachen university in Germany is evaluated very successful. Hence this paper carried out case study in order to find implications. The success factors are horizontal cooperation in open ecosystem, utilization of virtual cluster and cooperation software, organic harmony with government policies and related research.

미래의 자동차산업에서는 전기자동차가 차지하는 비중이 매우 높을 것으로 전망된다. 미래 시장을 선점하기 위하여, 각국 정부에서 전기자동차에 관한 지원정책을 확대하고 있다. 전기자동차는 짧은 주행거리, 높은 차량 가격, 긴 충전시간, 인프라 표준화, 새로운 생태계 구축 등 상용화를 위하여서는 아직 해결하여야 할 과제가 많은 실정이다. 이러한 가운데 독일의 아헨공대가 주축이 된 전기자동차 개발 프로젝트가 매우 성공적으로 진행되고 있는 것으로 평가되고 있어, 이에 대한 시사점을 찾기 위하여 사례연구를 진행하였다. 이 프로젝트의 성공요인은 개방 생태계에서 수평적 협업방식의 채택, 버추얼 클러스터와 협업 소프트웨어의 활용, 정부정책 및 관련 연구들과의 유기적인 조화 등으로 분석되었다.
