In the Korean language, well-developed onomatopoeia and mimesis applied in appropriate situations can allow for one’s emotions and feelings to be expressed in an elaborate and sophisticated manner. In addition, interest and enjoyment can be imparted through the distinctive and lively rhythm of onomatopoeia. This is because, especially in cases of child-rearing by immigrant wives of Korean men, where the use of onomatopoeia is becoming a requirement, those caring for young children can provide an increased ability to express one’s self and a stable method for the development of language through using a wide variety of onomatopoeia with young children. A lot of immigrant wives fill the role of educator by reading fairy tales and singing songs to their children to aid in the development of language and interactions with others. However, most can’t understand the meaning of the onomatopoeia, so they simply read the words. Therefore, the systemization of the education system is an urgent matter. To provide an education system for immigrant wives for teaching onomatopoeia to their children, a system is proposed in which nursery rhymes are used in a real, effective classroom model, in an effort to help these women fill the roles of educators, thereby aiding in their children’s language development. Nursery rhymes not only contain various forms of onomatopoeia that children need, but also through the use of songs and melodies with an emphasis on onomatopoeia, it is easy to keep the interest of young learners. Furthermore, as these are useful interactive exercises for children, it can be said that they are well-suited media for education. Through this study on learning subjects, topics of study, and the utility of nursery rhymes, selection of an appropriate catalogue of onomatopoeia and educational nursery rhymes, the proposal of a teaching system, and improvement upon real classroom situations, the results obtained can become reference materials for future use.

한국어는 의성어ㆍ의태어가 발달된 언어로 담화상황 속에서 적절하게 사용하면 자신의 감정과 느낌을 섬세하고 정교하게 표현할 수 있고 의성어ㆍ의태어 특유의 생동감과 리듬감은 언어생활에 흥미와 즐거움을 느끼게 한다. 자녀양육과정에서 다양하고 풍부한 의성어ㆍ의태어 사용이 요구되는데 양육자가 영ㆍ유아기 자녀에게 다양하고 풍부한 의성어ㆍ의태어의 경험을 제공할수록 자녀의 언어 표현력을 증진시킬 수 있고 안정적인 언어발달을 지원해 줄 수 있다. 한국어를 모어로 하는 양육자의 경우 자녀가 말을 배우 는 시기 다양한 의성어․의태어를 사용하여 ‘양치하자’를 ‘치카치카 하자’, ‘밥 먹자’를 ‘냠냠 먹자’로 생동감 있게 표현하고 있다. 그러나 결혼이주여 성을 대상으로 한 의성어ㆍ의태어 교육이 활발하지 않아 대부분의 결혼이 주여성은 의성어․의태어의 의미를 이해하지 못할 뿐만 아니라 학습한 의 성어․의태어라도 자녀 양육 상황에 활용하지 못하고 있어 결혼이주여성을 위한 보다 적극적인 의성어․의태어 교육이 이루어져야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 결혼이주여성을 위한 의성어․의태어 교육을 위한 교육 방안을 마련하고자 동요를 활용해, 실제적인 수업모형과 효과적인 수 업방안을 제안하여 결혼이주여성의 양육자 역할 및 자녀의 언어발달을 돕 고자 한다. 동요는 육아에 필요한 다양한 의성어․의태어를 담고 있을 뿐만 아니라 가사와 멜로디가 쉬워 의성어․의태어에 중점을 두어 교육할 수 있 으며 학습자의 흥미와 관심을 유발하기에 적합하여 쉽고 재미있게 학습할 수 있다. 또한 자녀와의 상호작용 상황에 활용하기가 유용하여 의성어ㆍ의태어 교육을 위한 적절한 제재라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 학습대상자, 학습내용을 고려하여 의성어ㆍ의태어 교육을 위 한 동요를 선정하고 지도 방안을 제안하여, 실제 수업 상황을 개선시키고 향후 의성어ㆍ의태어 연구에 기초 자료가 될 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.
