“Mother” constantly ranges over a number of genre such as literature, movie, music and drama, being drawn a significant object socially and psychologically. Mother has intimacy element as a person in official life in an early state supporter, dynamic characteristics with growth of children and permanency in the center of our whole life memory though mother is dead. “Mother” is helpful to some people and vice versa. The memory about mother is important in our lives because of the continuously internalized effect although mother’s absence caused by death or divorce. “Please Look After Mother” written by Kyung Sook, Shin is very meaningful literary work. Because it brings a person to our memories about ‘Mother’ and helps us to extract meaning of HYO naturally in the process of identifying ‘Mother’ in the novel and our real ‘Mother’ through this novel. Therefore, researcher will try to suggest meaning of HYO after looking mother-children relation that forms systematic network as aspect of dynamics, closeness and permanency from a systematical perspective.

‘엄마’는 문학·영화·음악·연극 등 모든 쟝르에서 끊임없이 다루어지고 있는 소재이 며 사회적·심리적으로도 매우 중요한 대상으로 그려져 왔다. 엄마는 인간에게 있어서 생애 초기 양육자와의 관계로서 나타나는 친밀성과 자녀가 성장하면서 변화하는 가운 데 나타나는 역동적인 특징 그리고 돌아가셨을지라도 기억속의 엄마는 일평생 삶의 중심에 있는 영속성을 가진 존재이다. 어떤 사람에게는 ‘엄마’는 부르기만 하여도 힘 이 되지만, 그 반대인 경우도 적지 않다. 실제 어머니는 돌아가셨거나 이혼 등으로 인 하여 부재중이라도 내 안에 내면화된 어머니는 여전히 영향을 미치고 있다는 점에서 어머니에 대한 기억은 삶속에서 중요하다. 작가 신경숙의『엄마를 부탁해』는 독자들에게 ‘엄마’에 대한 기억을 일깨워주고 소설속의 ‘엄마’와 나의 ‘엄마’를 동일시하는 가운데 ‘엄마’에 대한 의미를 되돌아 볼 수 있다는 점에서 자연스럽게 소설을 통한 효 의미를 추출할 수 있는 유의미한 작품 으로 보았다. 따라서 연구자는 시스템적 관점에서 유기적인 연결망을 형성하고 있는 엄마-자녀간의 관계를 역동성·친밀성·영속적인 측면에서 살펴보고 본 작품에 나타난 효 의미를 제언해 보고자 한다.
