This writing is trying to look into complexity theory on the side of educational position. Especially in this writing, Cooperative activity, which is an essential part of complexity theory, is focused as an implication for fragmented school education. Complexity theory is a new point of view admitting complexity of phenomena and system once it is existed, compare to the older simple and linear one. This system of complexity is called as Complexity theory. School is complex enough to be part of it and therefore it is possible to apply cooperative activity in Complexity theory to school education. As a part of self-organization, cooperation is the main power for the system to develope by itself. Problems that once original school education had can be solved by the change of fundamental thinking. Individual abilities has reached limitation and now cooperation, against to competition, is essential to guide students to adjust to the society.

이 글은 현재 여러 학문 분야에서 본격적으로 대두되고 있는 '복잡성 이론'을 교육적인 입장에서 살펴보고, 특별히 그 속에서 필수 요소로서 내재된 협동 활동에 대한 고찰을 통해 갈수록 파편화되고 있는 한국의 학교교육에 대한 의미를 고찰 하는데 목적을 두었다. 복잡성 이론은 근대의 단순하고 선형적인 세계관과는 달리 다양화 되고 있는 복잡한 세계와 현상, 체계를 있는 그대로의 복잡함으로 접근하는 새로운 시각이다. 이러한 복잡성을 띠는 체계를 복잡성 체계라고 하는데, 학교 역시 충분히 복잡 체계라고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 복잡성 이론에서 언급하고 있는 협동 활동 역시 학교 교육에 충분히 적용 가능할 것으로 보인다. 자기조직화의 일환으로서 협동은 그 체계를 스스로 성장시키는 핵심적인 동력이다. 따라서 기존의 학교 교육이 가지고 있는 입시 위주 교육의 병폐들을 해소할 수 있는 근본적인 사고관의 변화가 촉구된다고 할 수 있다. 개개인의 능력만으로는 더 이상 해결할 수 없는 문제들이 사회에 만연하고 있고, 그 사회에 적응할 수 있도록 학생들을 지도하기 위해서는 경쟁이 아닌 협동할 수 있는 사람으로 양성하는 것이 필요하다.
