Police performance culture has not only positive effects for individual motivation and organizational development, but also negative effects such as excessive choice induction and conflict among the members. Recently, many researches in the field of public administration regard perception of organizational politics as a result of negative factors in the organization development. Many studies also brought up negative effects of performance evaluation in police. This article is study to that police officer's machiavellianism on perception of organizational politics. For the study, police officers in Seoul, Chungnam, Ulsan were offered self-report questionnaires, and the result was analysed though frequency analysis, validity and reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The result showed that police officer's machiavellianism has partly negative effect on perception of organizational politics. However, sub-variable of police officer's machiavellianism, turned out to have somewhat positive effect on perception of organizational politics, which is different from the precedent studies. This result showed, as to organizational politics, members of police organization have negative attitude to co-worker action rather than leader action, which arises the necessity of follow-up studies on relationship between peers in police organization.

현대의 조직사회에서 조직 간에 관계를 맺고 조직구성원의 일원으로서 삶을 영위하는 과정에서 발생하는 갈등은 조직 내 희소자원의 획득을 위한 것이다. 이러한 조직생활 과정에서 조직 구성원의 행동은 정치적으로 이어질 수가 있고, 목표달성을 위해 생존을 중시하기도 하지만 조직 속에 흐르고 있는 비공식성과 비합리성에 초점을 맞추어 규칙만으로는 설명하기 어려운 조직의 동기적 측면들을 중점적으로 부각시키고 있는 것들이 바로 정치적 접근의 시각이라 할 수가 있다. 이 연구는 경찰공무원의 조직내 마키아벨리즘이 조직정치지각에 대해 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 살펴보았다. 연구의 분석대상은 서울과 충남 그리고 울산지역의 경찰공무원들을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였고, 회수된 설문지를 바탕으로 빈도분석, 타당도 및 신뢰도 분석, 상관관계분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 경찰공무원의 마키아벨리즘의 하위요인인 지위욕구와 타인불신은 조직정치지각의 상사와 동료행동에 정적(+) 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 무도덕과 통제욕구는 유의미한 결과가 나타나지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 측정도구와 변수 그리고 연구가설과 일부 일치하며, 마키아벨리즘이라는 조직 내 하나의 현상에 대한 조직구성원의 지각에 있어서 상사와 동료행동에 대해 긍정적으로 나타났다는 점에서 경찰조직 내 동료간 연구에도 관심을 기울일 필요가 있을 뿐만 아니라 경찰공무원의 마키아벨리즘을 낮출 수 있는 전략적인 조직관리 방안이 필요하다.
