This study explores various risk factors in predicting intimate partner violence in the frame work of feminism theories. Feminism theories and feminist researchers suggest that traditional socioeconomic status incompatibility between husband and wife increase the risk of various types of intimate partner violence such as physical, emotional and sexual violence in families. Specifically, Marital dependency and stress frustration theories argue that different individual position in accessing to economic resources between husband and wife place wife at risk for abuse. On the other hands, some feminist researchers like Anderson suggests that economical power differences between partners may generate various dynamics in predicting intimate partner violence. To examine these theories, the authors used several status incompatibility measures drawn from socioeconomic factors as family income, and husband and wife's education. This study developed three individual multivariate regression models for physical violence, emotional abuse and sexual abuse to order to examine risk factors predicting each of distinctive type of abuse in intimate partner violence. Data were obtained from a sample of 119 women who experienced intimate partner violence. Multivariate analyses used in this study revealed supportive findings for the feminist theories and the augments of feminist researchers that socioeconomic status incompatibility are related with intimate partner violence. In addition, some factors know as risk factors for intimate partner violence in previous studies also found to be risk factors in this sample. The contribution, implications and limitations of the study were discussed in the study.

이 연구는 가정폭력에 관한 중요한 이론적 배경을 제시해 왔던 페미니스트이론들과 이러한 이론들에 기반을 둔 기존의 연구들이 주장하는 바와 같이 남성과 여성의 배우자 간의 사회경제학적 지위의 불균형이 가정폭력에 영향을 미치게 가를 분석하였다. 페미니스트 학자들 중 결혼의존이론과 스트레스-좌절이론 등은 가정 내 전통적인 형태의 사회경제력이 남성에게 집중된 형태의 불균형이 아내에 대한 가정폭력과 관련되어있다고 주장하였고, 또 다른 페미니스트 연구자들 중 Anderson 등은 가정 내에서의 부부의 경제력의 파워와 가정폭력의 관계가 한 방향으로만 설정되어 있는 것이 아닌 역동적인 관계를 가지고 있다는 견해를 보였다. 이 연구는 이러한 기존 주장들과 연구들의 흐름에 따라 가정폭력 피해여성에 대한 다양한 폭력들을, 신체적, 감정적, 성적 학대의 경험으로 구분하여 각각의 가정폭력유형에 영향을 미치는 원인요인 및 상관요인들을 분석하고자 하였다. 연구의 분석을 위해서 실제 가정폭력 피해경험이 있는 119명의 여성들을 대상으로 수집한 설문데이터를 사용하였다. 분석기법으로는 국, 내외의 선행연구들과 가정폭력을 설명하는 이론들을 통해서 알려진 다양한 가정폭력원인요인들이 포함된 다중회귀분석들을 사용하였다. 이 연구의 분석결과는 페미니즘의 이론적 주장을 일부 지지하는 연구결과를 발견하였다. 그리고 이 외에도 가정폭력에 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려진 다양한 요인들이 이 표본에서도 주요한 위험요인임을 밝혀내었다. 그 외의 이 연구의 공헌점, 결과에 대한 제한점들 그리고 연구의 한계 등이 본문에서 논의되었다.
