The purpose of this study is to know the structural relation of the meaning in the architecture color by using Greimas's semiotic square. The standard analyze the architecture color meaning is classified as the color, tone, color harmony and color structural method. And the architecture color meaning applying the semiotic square to Portland Building of Michael Graves who is the representative architect of the post-modern is analyzed. The conclusion is as follows ; Graves expressed the classicism element through the color and provided the interest to the public. It planned the pleasure of the architecture returning to the nature by the metaphorical expression of the color. That is often found by the color. And it shows up by the tone, color harmony, and color structural method. The meaning of the architecture color found in each semantic domain is emphasized by the relationship or difference in the Greimas's semiotic square.

본 연구의 목적은 건축색채의 의미를 그레마스의 기호사변형을 이용하여 의미의 구조관계를 알아보고자 한다. 건축색채 의미를 분석하는 기준은 색상, 톤, 배색유형 그리고 색채구성법으로 분류한다. 그리고 이 요소를 통하여 포스트모던주의 대표작가인 마이클 그레이브스의 포틀랜드 시청사를 대상으로 기호사변형을 적용한 건축색채의미를 분석한다. 결과는 다음과 같다. 마이클 그레이브스는 색채를 통해 고전주의적 요소를 표현하여 대중에게 흥미를 제공하였고, 색의 은유적 표현에 의해 자연으로 회귀하는 건축의 즐거움을 도모하였다. 그것은 때때로 색상에 의해 드러나기도 하고, 톤, 배색유형, 색채구성기법에 의해서 나타나기도 한다. 각각의 의미범주 속에서 드러나는 건축색채의 의미는 그레마스의 기호사변형에서 서로의 관계 혹은 차이에 의해 더 강조된다.
