The Effect of Applying Various Amounts of Ceramide Skincare on Erythema and Moisturizing after Herbal Peeling
초록
영어
The aim of this study was to prove the effect of applying various amounts of ceramide skincare on erythema and moisturizing after herbal peeling.Peeling is known to alleviate hyperpigmentation due to exfoliation, acne mitigation and maintenance of clear skin. But unfortunately, despite its positive effects, peeling is still accompanied by side effects such as erythema, dehydration, and skin irritation. This happens due to the deterioration of the skin barrier resulting to dehydration. Ceramide is one of the most important ingredients that keeps the skin barrier’s function of protecting the skin from irritation due to external stimulation. Accordingly, we intend to check whether skincare applying ceramide after peeling replaced damaged skin barrier and minimized such side effect to improve skin. In the experiment, the middle-aged woman participants were divided into three groups, namely, No contents of Ceramide group (NC), Low contents of Ceramide group (LC) which contained 1% Ceramide and High contents of Ceramide group (HC) which contained 3% Ceramide. The test was rendered a total eight times and skincare was given in one-week interval. After the1st and 8th experiment, skin erythema index, moisture content, TEWL and roughness were measured. The moisture content of HC group increased more than LC and HC group and erythema index, TEWL and roughness decreased to be the lowest compared to LC and NC group to show significant difference. The increase of moisture content, erythema index, TEWL and roughness in LC group decreased compared to the NC group to show significant difference. It was a result that the higher contents of ceramide, the more showed positive effects on improvingand relieving erythema, dehydration, skin irritation.
