The aim of this research is to examine how Korean literature education research abroad has been conducted and suggest the tasks to study ahead. Of the countries examined, the most research has been conducted in China, the Americas are in the second place, and there are little research in the others. In particular, it is desirable that China has shown the steady results by chinese scholars in various fields, which is attributed to Korean department established in more than 100 universities and active researches of Korean education in progress. But in the other countries, except for China, it was difficult even to track the current situation of Korean literature education. Korean literature abroad will develop while the stature of South Korea is growing and Koreanology and Korean education are spreading broadly. The tasks ahead are as follows. First, in the case of China, the theoretical research of Korean literature education should be conducted not in the curriculum field of Korean department but in the academic filed deeply. Not only the research of language (functional) education using literary works, but the research of culture education and literature itself should be conducted in various fields and genres. Second, in the Americas, it is too hard to suggest teaching methods in advance because Korean literature research is connected with Korea's global position, though, we need the plan research of authentic methods as well as theoretical studies in Korean literature education. Also it is expected that the research will show the good results in Vietnam and Thailand because Korean education is activated. Thirdly, in addition to the above tasks, the support from government organization is urgently needed to secure faculty member of Korean literature education in policy.

이 글은 해외 한국문학교육의 연구 현황을 살펴보고 앞으로의 과제를 제시하고자 하는 목 적으로 쓰였다. 중국, 미주, 기타 지역으로 나누어 한국문학교육의 연구 현황을 살펴본 바, 중 국에서의 연구가 가장 많았고, 미주 지역에서의 연구가 다음을 차지하였으며, 기타 지역의 경 우는 그 성과가 거의 없었다. 중국의 경우는 다양한 분야에서 일정 수준의 성과를 보여주고 있으며, 중국인 학자들에 의해 연구되고 있다는 점에서 상당히 바람직한 현상을 보여주고 있 다. 이러한 현상은 100여개가 넘는 대학에서 한국어학과가 개설되어 한국어교육 연구가 활발 하게 진행되고 있기 때문이다. 그러나 중국을 제외한 다른 지역은 한국문학교육 연구 현황을 파악하기조차 어려웠고 전체적으로 미미한 편이었다. 이들 지역의 한국문학교육 연구는 국제 사회에서의 한국의 위상이 높아지고 해외 한국학과 한국어교육이 확산되면서 더불어 발전될 수 있을 것이다. 해외 한국문학교육 연구에 대한 앞으로의 과제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국의 경우, 한국문 학교육의 이론적 측면에 대한 연구가 단지 한국어학과의 교육과정으로서가 아니라 학문적 측 면에서 좀 더 심층적으로 이루어져야 한다. 그리고 문학작품을 활용한 언어(기능) 교육 연구 도 다양한 영역에서 폭넓게 이루어져야 하며, 문화교육 연구와 문학 자체의 교육 연구도 다양 한 장르에서 폭 넓게 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 미주지역의 경우, 한국문학교육 연구는 한국의 국제적 위상의 발전과 연관되는 것이 기에 앞으로의 과제를 구체적으로 제시하기는 무리가 있으나, 기본적인 한국문학교육의 이론 적 측면 뿐 아니라 실제 교수․학습 방안에 대한 연구가 필요하다고 하겠다. 아울러 기타 지 역의 연구도 이와 마찬가지지만, 베트남이나 태국의 경우는 현재 한국어교육이 활기를 띠고 있기 때문에 한국문학교육 연구도 앞으로의 성과가 기대된다. 셋째, 위의 내용과는 별도로 한국문학교육의 연구가 발전적으로 이루어지기 위한 정책적인 방안으로 한국문학교육 교수 요원의 확보를 위한 한국 정부 기관의 지원과 노력이 절실하다.
