Modern counseling psychology and psychiatry have fostered a good number of mental health professionals. However, the spiritual aspect of human being that has provided wisdom of healing has been neglected. As a result, counseling psychotherapy has focused on techniques and skills, which leads counseling psychotherapy that studies human being's suffering, pain and distress to be dehumanized. But interestingly, this critical examination of current counseling psychotherapy has been raising interest in the spiritual aspect of counseling psychotherapy. Since a counselee/client wants one's spiritual value to be respected, it is more effective for a counselor to have an integrated perspective that includes the spiritual aspect of human being. This article will examine the meaning of integrating the spiritual aspect into counseling psychotherapy. Also, I will study christian (pastoral) counseling as spirituality-oriented counseling psychotherapy. Then, how the method and strategy of spirituality-oriented christian (pastoral) counseling can provide insight into developmental viewpoints will be examined. Lastly, spirituality-oriented christian (pastoral) counseling as practical theology will be discussed, since it is the duty of christian (pastoral) counselors to help those who are in their spiritual journeys, and spirituality-oriented christian (pastoral) counseling that takes integrated approach that thoughtfully and skillfully combines spirituality and counseling can help those counselors.

현대의 상담심리학과 정신의학은 많은 정신건강전문가를 길러냈다. 하지만 오랜 시간 인류에게 치유의 지혜를 제공하고 인간의 삶에 중요한 영역인 영성적인 부분에 대한 관심은 무시되었다. 그 결과, 상담심리치료 영역에서도 기술적인 부분이 강조되면서, 인간의 고통과 아픔에 대해 연구하는 상담심리치료 영역마저 비인간화 되었다는 문제의식을 갖게 한다. 이러한 문제의식은 오늘날 반동적으로 영성적 차원에 대한 관심을 불러일으키고 있다. 왜냐하면 상담심리치료의 임상적 장면에서 내담자는 자신의 영성적 가치가 존중받기를 원하고 있으며, 상담자 역시 내담자의 영성적 측면을 포함하여 보다 통합적으로 접근할 때 효과적인 상담심리치료를 기대할 수 있기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 상담심리치료에 영적 측면을 결합한다는 것의 의미를 살펴볼 것이다. 그 후에 영성지향적 상담심리치료로서의 기독교(목회)상담을 연구할 것이다. 마지막으로 영성지향적 기독교(목회)상담심리치료의 치료 방법과 전략이 내담자의 발달적 관점에 어떤 통찰을 줄 수 있는지와 실천신학으로서의 영성지향적 기독교(목회)상담심리에 대해 알아볼 것이다. 왜냐하면 영성과 상담을 통한 영성지향적 기독교(목회)상담심리치료는 영적인 여정에 있는 이들을 마땅히 도와야 하는 기독교(목회)상담가들의 가장 중요하고 잘 해야 하는 실천신학적 사역임이 분명하기 때문이다.
