This experiment focused on the effect of Tea tree oil that was bland with Jojoba oil to 1% and 2 % on the improvement of acne skin. It has been reported in many studies that Tea tree oil is anti-bacterial and specifically effective on the treatment of acne. In this study, Tea tree oil was bland with Jojoba oil to 1% and 2 % so that it could be applied to the face. The subjects were seleced 3 students who were 20 years old. The 1% and 2% solutions were applied on the left and right side face of the subjects. Subject A with pustular acne confirmed seeing improvement after 10 treatments with both the 1% and 2% solutions. The 10 treatments were performed from Oct. 13, 2008 to Dec. 15, 2008. The effect was more significant with the 2% solution. The length of time for improvement to be made was observed: with the 1% solution, the improvement gradually showed after the 6th treatment and the effect was evident after the 10th treatment while the improvement began to show after 4th treatment with the 2% solution. Thus it is more ideal to treat acne pustular with the 2% solution than the 1% solution. Subject B with papular acne confirmed seeing improvement began to show after the 5th treatment, but at least 10 treatments were apparently needed to improve the acne problem. The same experiment was conducted on subject C with whitehead and blackhead confirmed seeing improvement after 10 treatments who showed that the application of the 1% and 2% solution led to improvement after the 10th treatment. This is some what different from the results involving pustular acne: there was no significant difference between the 1% and 2% solution used on papular acne and both concentrations began to show improvement after the 5th treatment. It was similar in that there was no significant effect before the 5th treatment. Lastly, subject C, whose acne was the least problematic among all subjects, also saw improvement with both the 1% and 2% solutions, whose effect was evident after the 5th treatment. Subject A, B and C, whose had different types of acne, were observed under the same conditions, and it was found out that the number of treatments led to more visible and significant improvements, rather than the concentration of the solution, in the acne other than pustular acne. With pustular acne, the 2% solution showed more a significant effect than the 1% solution, and the improvement was faster with the 2% solution in terms of the concentration level as well. Considering the results, the effect of tea tree oil on the improvement of acne, which was reported in many studies, was confirmed once again in the clinical trials, and it can be seen that the 2% solution was more effective. Minimal improvement began to show after the 5th treatment and that at least 10 treatments were needed to have a significant effect.
