The importance of forfeiting and other products that are being used to sell export receivables is being highlighted more than ever as the trade and finance environments have changed in recent years. However, these products are not being utilized much in Korea due to lack of experiences by financial institutions, lack of information, the practice of extending securities based collateral, and other factors. Although Korea Trade Insurance Corporation has introduced short-term export credit insurance (buyer credit), export financing facility (EFF), and short-term export insurance (forfeiting), their impact on this market has been insignificant. Thus, this paper examines the current situation of and those issues related with the market for export receivables disposal, compares those products used to dispose export receivables and trade credit insurance products, and reviews relevant overseas cases. By doing so, this paper analyses some of the causes of these trade credit insurance products not being utilized effectively, while proposing methods to promote the use of these products.

최근 무역과 금융환경 변화로 인해 팩토링이나 포페이팅과 같은 수출채권 매각상품의 중요성이 더해지고 있는 상황이나, 우리나라에서는 금융기관의 경험, 정보 부족과 담보위주의 대출관행 등으로 시장이 그다지 활성화되지 않은 상황이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 한국무역보험공사는 단기수출보험(구매자), 단기수출보험(EFF), 단기수출보험(포페이팅)을 각각 출시하였지만, 시장에 영향을 미칠 만큼 활성화되지는 않았다. 이에 본고에서는 우리나라 수출채권 매각시장의 현황과 문제점, 수출채권 매각상품과 무역보험상품의 비교, 외국 무역보험사의 사례 등을 검토하여 수출채권매각을 지원하기 위해 도입된 무역보험상품이 충분히 활성화되지 못한 이유를 분석해보고 나아가 활성화되기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.
