Biological activity composition of water-soluble chitosans

Recently, chitosan resources have been used as the raw materials for food and cosmetics due to their anti-wrinkle and antimicrobial activities. Chitosan derivatives from several interesting biological activity was studied. Which have the amino and hydroxyl groups, because the structure is appropriate to grant a variety of functions. Thus can be utilized in cosmetic functional. These feature-rich chitosan is known in the field of hair cosmetics and skin cosmetic as an important substance that can not be evaded. Particular, has a structure similar to hyaluronic acid and natural moisturizing substance, chitosan are cosmetic and products of emulsifiers or can be used as a moisturizer. The antimicrobial activity of chitosan is attracting attention as a cosmetic materials. To investigate the possibility of development as biological activity using chitosans (chitooilgosaccharide (M.W. >5K, 3.5K, <1K) and CMChitosan) we measured polyphenol, DPPH assay, tyrosinase activity, elastase activity antimicrobial activity). There were differences depending on the molecular weight of chitooligosaccharides. 1K low molecular weight chitooligosaccharides less than antioxidant, whitening activity was higher. Chitoligoosaccharides from 3.5 K up higher efficacy of antimicrobial activity, polyphenols.
