Effect of Spirulina Extract-embedded PCL Nanofibrous Mat on Primary Astrocyte

초록

영어

Application of nanomaterials for the treatment of injured central nervous system (CNS) has been recently studied. Nanofibrous mat is commonly used as a potential scaffold for tissue engineering due to its similar structure to extracellular matrix. In addition, physiological materials from microalgae such as Spirulina have been used as antioxidant supplement. In this study, Spirulina extract embedded PCL nanofibrous mat was fabricated by electrospinning for culture of primary astrocyte which only existed in CNS. As a result, the activity of astrocyte increased as compared to PCL nanofibrous mat without Spirulina extract. This indicates the potential of spirulina extract embedded PCL mat as novel scaffold for neural regeneration.
