Development of Korean TOD Standards considering Public Transportation Environments
초록
영어
Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) has emerged as a promising alternative for sustainable communities by creating compact and walkable environments using convenient and efficient public transport systems.
TOD is recognized to reduce people°Øs dependence on personal cars for mobility and to help make vibrant and livable communities. In Korea, however, is still a lack of research on the standard of TOD planning and design. In this study, a set of TOD elements and standards suitable for Korean public transportation environments is proposed based on those used in the United States where automobile oriented transportation systems are more dominant than public transportation as in Korea. Several unique components of Korean TOD elements and standards considering Korean transportation policies and land-use standards are also developed based on comparative study between the U.S. and Korean public transportation environments.
