This study investigated the correlation between the existence of depression in married women and their Favorite Kind of Weather (FKW) drawing characteristics. The study participants were 164 married women at ages 20 to 50 residing in the cities: Busan, Changwon, or Kimhae. The research ran from November 11, 2011 until March, 2012. The instruments included Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the FKW test. Data were analyzed using a cross-tab analysis on SPSS 18.0. First, significant differences were found between the non-depression group and depression group in the categories of FKW drawing characteristics such as pen pressure, space use, and degree of space utilization. The depression group showed weaker pen pressure, more use of the space and more use of the left side. Second, significant differences were found between the non-depression group and depression group in the factors such as sun, dark clouds, rain, and weather change. The depression group showed smaller suns, many dark clouds and rains, and more weather change. Third, significant differences were found between the non-depression group and depression group in the color use of gray and black. The depression group used the colors gray and black more than the non-depression group. These findings support the FKW can provide useful data as a screening tool to predict the depression in the married women.

본 연구는 기혼여성의 우울유무에 따라 좋아하는 날씨(Favorite Kind of Weather: FKW) 그림의 반응 특성이 차이가 있는지 알아본 것이다. 연구대상은 부산, 창원, 김해에 거주하는 20∼50대 기혼여성 164명이며, 2011년 11월에서 2012년 3월에 걸쳐 조사를 실시하였다. 연구도구는 Beck의 우울척도(Beck Depression Inventory)와 FKW 그림이다. 자료분석은 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 교차분석(cross-tab analysis)을 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, FKW 그림 반응 특성의 형식요인 중 필압, 공간사용, 공간이용도에서 비우울집단과 우울집단 간에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 즉 우울집단이 비우울집단에 비해 필압이 약하며, 공간을 많이 사용하고, 왼쪽 공간을 많이 이용하였다. 둘째, FKW 그림 반응 특성의 내용요인 중 해, 먹구름, 비, 날씨의 움직임에서 비우울집단과 우울집단간에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 즉 우울집단이 비우울집단에 비해 해를 적게 그리고 먹구름과 비를 많이 그리고 날씨의 움직임이 많았다. 셋째, FKW 그림 반응 특성의 색상요인 중 회색과 검정에서 비우울집단과 우울집단간에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 우울집단이 비우울집단에 비해 회색과 검정을 많이 사용하였다. 이상의 결과를 통하여 FKW 그림은 기혼여성의 우울을 예측하고 선별하는 도구로서 유용한 자료를 제공할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.
