The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among children’s self-regulation, language ability, and social competence. The subjects were 164 children in 5 kindergartens in K-do. The mean ages of subjects were 69.89 months. ‘Children’s self-regulation assessment’, ‘Language ability assessment in K-WPPSI’, and ‘Social Situation Measurement’ were used in collection of data. Pearson’s correlation and Multi-Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data. The results of this study are as follows. First, there were no correlations between children’s self-regulation and language ability. Second, there were positive correlations between children’s self-regulation and social competence. Third, it was revealed that ‘alternatives to aggression’, which is a subarea of social competence, was found as the predictive variable for effecting children’s self-regulation.

본 연구의 목적은 유아들의 자기조절력과 언어능력 그리고 사회적 능력 간의 관계를 분석하고 유아의 자기조절력에 영향을 미치는 예측변인을 밝히는 데 있다. 연구대상은 유치원에 재원 중인 유아 164명이었으며 평균월령은 69.89개월이었다. '유아용 자기조절력 검사도구', 'K-WPPSI', 그리고 '사회적 기술상황 검사도구'를 사용하여 연구 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 연구자료는 Pearson 적률 상관계수와 중다회귀분석을 통해 검증하였다. 연구결과, 유아의 자기조절력과 언어능력 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 없는 것으로 나타났으나 자기조절력과 전체 사회적 능력 및 사회적 능력의 하위요인인 정서인식 및 표현, 비공격적 대처 능력, 스트레스 다루기 능력간에는 정적상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사회적 능력의 하위요인인 비공격적 대처능력은 유아의 자기조절력에 유의미하게 영향을 미치는 예측변인으로 밝혀졌다.
