This essay deals with the term of Logotherapy and the term of Public-common Happiness. The revolutionary term of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (LTEA) was first published by its founder Viktor E. Frankl in 1938. In LTEA the quest for meaning in life is identified as the primary motivational force in human beings (Frankl, 1946). Public-common Happiness is a new theory first published in Korea in Global Ethics Education by Prof. Kim Yong-Hwan in 2010. It describes a happiness that both a human individual andits fellow human beings enjoy together through other-directedness and communication(Kim,2012). In the main part of the essay I want to discuss the term Logotherapy and its meaning for society. I want to demonstrate the connection between Logotherapy and happiness and its positive effect on society. Furthermore I want to defend my claim that Viktor Frankl holds his thesis of happiness being a result of finding meaning in life. I will argue for this claim on the basis of a critical analysis of Frankl’s thesis and its relevance for society. First I will explain the term of Logotherapyshortly. Then I will show that Frankl’s LTEA supports people finding their individual meaning in life and on the side experience happiness automatically while the contrary claim of the Roman Catholic Church is refuted. Thus on the one hand the acceptance of Logotherapy advancing happiness takes place and on the other hand its relevance for society gets clear. Att the end of the essay I try to figure out the connection between Logotherapy and Public-common Happiness and its meaning for society.
