The continuous growth of vehicle population is negatively affecting especially in urban areas in terms of pollution and lower mobility capacity due to congestion. A solution to this problem is to introduce Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMV). PMV is a single-person transport mode that has been around throughout the 20th century; usually in the form of motorcycles or bicycles. The PMV is moving into a new direction more categories. These new categories that have been introduced are proposing to go with electric propulsion in order to reduce emissions. However, these electric Personal Mobility Vehicle (ePMV) is a new “mode” of transport, and it is a new paradigm in driving for users to get accustomed to. For the users to realize the benefits of the ePMV, it can be viewed as a long term investment. This paper will compare a specifc model ePMV with a conventional vehicle and a hybrid vehicle, and will discuss the benefits in terms of emissions and cost when ePMVs are used in long term durations. For the social benefit analysis, the Renault Twizy was chosen for the ePMV.
