This paper aims to survey the status of the marriage-immigrants in Chungcheongnam-do Province and review the policy to support the multi-culture families based on their perception and demands. For this purpose we performed a literaure survey and an in-depth interviews. Literature survey analyzed data obtained from the Ministry of Justice, Chungnam-net, documents published by the local government bodies in the Province, and the internet homepages of the Centers for Supporting Multi-Culture Families. The interviews were executed with 13 parents of multi-culture families in S City. The findings of this study are as following: First, the support policy is being implemented more actively in cities where the number of marriage-immigrants is large than in rural areas where the number is small. Second, the policy is concentrated on the marriage-immigrants themselves but relatively negligent to helping Korean families understand and accommodate the immigrating spouses. Third, the multi-culture families in Chungcheongnam-do Province turns out to be lacking the real-life feeling of the effect of the support policy. This result implies that the local government bodies need to develop a more customized support policy for the multi-culture families.

본 연구는 충청남도내 결혼이민자 현황과 다문화가족지원정책을 파악하고 이에 대한 다문화가족의 인식과 요구를 검토하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 문헌조사와 심층면접조사를 실시하였다. 문헌조사는 법무부와 충남넷 및 도내 지방자치단체에서 발행한 문헌과 다문화가족지원센터 홈페이지를 통해 자료를 분석하였고, 면접조사는 S시의 다문화가정 부모13명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 본 연구결과 첫째, 일반적으로 다문화가족지원정책은 도시지역과 결혼이민자수가 많은 곳에서 활발하고, 군지역이나 결혼이민자수가 적은 곳에서는 취약하였다. 둘째, 충청남도내 다문화가족지원정책은 결혼이민자에게 집중되고 한국인 가족이 결혼이민자(배우자)를 이해하고 수용하는 데엔 소홀한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 충청남도 다문화가족은 지방자치단체의 다문화가족지원정책에 대해 체험효과를 크게 느끼지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 각 지방자치단체가 다문화가족에게 실질적으로 필요한 맞춤형지원정책을 개발해야함을 시사하는 것이다.
