Effect of introducing density concept on science-gifted children's understanding of buoyant force
초록
영어
We have investigated the effect of introducing density concept on the science-gifted children's understanding of buoyant force. Thirty one elementary school students of two different science-gifted education centers in Seoul were chosen for the research. We developed 9-item-questionnaires related with the buoyant force to investigate the change in the concept of the force, respectively, before and after the class. The answers were classified into 5 levels; SU(sound understanding), PU(partial understanding), PU/MU(partial understanding with misunderstanding), C/MU(complete misunderstanding), and NR(no response). Before the class, the students had various misconceptions on the origin and the magnitude of the buoyant force. However, about 70% of them could understand the concept of buoyant force after the class.
