초록
영어
This study firstly investigated current status of SPA operations, satisfaction of SPA service, SPA programs, and core facilities in SPA enters on Jeju Island. Secondly, a systematic comparison between SPA in hotels or resorts and day SPA was made to identify strengths and weaknesses of them. Finally, results from fact finding survey were used to ultimately develop a specialized SPA program for Jeju Island. The study results were summarized as follows: With respect to status of SPA programs in hotels/resorts, aromatherapy programs were applied by more than 50% of SPA centers, 10 SPA centers (58.82%) out of 17 SPA centers have applied hydrotherapy programs, and 10 spa (58.82%) out of 17 SPA centers applied the body treatment programs. In case of day SPA centers, all 17 spas provided partial body treatments and body treatment programs were provided by most of them. Aromatherapy programs were offered by only 3 day SPA centers (17.65%). From the result, it was speculated that: First, there were insufficiency in terms of diversity of SPA massage programs and lack of Jeju region specialized programs.
Second, there were no management assessment, marketing strategies, and reeducation programs to update systematic or standardized skill of SPA service due to small scale of SPA industry.
