This article intends to introduce the new trends of moral researches applied by neuroscientific theories, methods, and techques, and to exam the argumentations which tries to argue that moral feelings and intuitions control moral judgement and moral decision making overwhelmingly. Then, it seeks to find what those argumentations imply to moral education. Especially, it focuses to compare the two argumentations which stand opposite, that is, the social intuitionalist J. Greene's and neo- kohlbergian D. Narvaez's. Beyond J. Haidt's over-simplified claim that moral judgement is determined only by moral intuitions, both scholars suggests that moral judgement and moral decision making depend on complicate process of feeling and reason. It tries to inquire and compare the intellectual backgrounds, the main tenants of two theories, the dual process model theory and the Triune Ethics Theory, and those implications to moral educations.

이 논문은 신경과학의 이론, 방법과 기술을 응용한 도덕 연구의 새로운 경향을 소개하고, 도덕적 감정과 직관이 도덕판단과 도덕적 의사결정을 강하게 통제한다는 입론들을 검토하고, 또 논의 결과가 도덕교육에 대해 갖는 의미들을 파악하고자 하는 목적을 가졌다. 이를 위해 본 본문은 이들 경향 가운데 윤리학의 학적 근거와 도덕교육에 대한 시사에 있어서 대립되는 입장에 서있는 두 진영의 대표적 학자들을 소개하고 비교하고자 하였다. 사회적 직관주의자인 그린J. Greene의 이중과정 모형론(the dual process model theory)과 네오 콜버그주의자인 나바에즈(D. Narvaez)의 삼층윤리설(the triune ethics theory)이 그것이다. 분석에 의하면 두 학자는 출발점에서 차이를 보이지만 점차 수렴되는 경향을 드러낸다. 그린은 직관 모형에서 이성의 개입 여지를 인정하는 쪽으로, 그리고 나바에즈는 이성 모형에서 감정과 직관의 토대를 인정하는 모형으로 나아간다. 두 학자 모두 도덕판단은 오로지 도덕적 직관에 의해서 결정된다는 헤이트(J.Haidt)의 과도한 단순 모형을 넘어서서 도덕판단과 도덕적 의사결정은 감정과 이성의 복잡한 과정에 의존하고 있음을 시사한다. 이것은 기존 도덕교육에 대해서 과도한 이성중심의 접근보다는 도덕적 감정의 조기 함양과 비도덕적 감정에 대한 비판적 성찰의 중요성을 시사하게 만든다.
