Effects of Body Fat Rate on Body Composition and Basic Fundamental Physical Fitness in Healthy 20-year-old Women

The interest in conservation of good health as becoming longer of the human life span is increasing gradually. It was reported that the duration of suffering diseases of women during whole life is 2-fold higher compare to the men while the life span of the women is longer than the men. Although masses of study performed are focused on endocrine related topics, direct relationship between body fat rate of body composition and physical fitness in different age of women yet to be revealed. This study consisted of a random selection of 36 women, disease-free and relatively healthy (20 years old each), from Masan city, Changwon city and other areas in Gyeongnam province. The pilot study was performed from February and the actual study was performed March to April using InBody. The samples were grouped according to their body fat ratios into: 20% comprised the below standard group, 20-30% comprised the standard group and the above standard group comprised of 30%. Based on the below standard group population, each group population included 10 women and the total population included 30 women. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS(ver.10.0) one-way ANOVA. The results showing that the weight and BMI in each group significantly increased according to body fat ratio.
Body components according to body fat ratio increased significantly in terms of body fat content. Basic physical strength according to body fat ratio was the lowest in the above standard group in the areas of flexibility, balance, power, agility, muscle endurance, body endurance(cardiovascular endurance) with the exception of muscle strength. However there were no significant differences in muscle endurance. Taken together, in this report, we confirmed that relative higher body fat ratio are giving effect to decrease of musculoskeletal physiology index in young women which suggesting body fatigue as well as development of progressive adult diseases.
