This paper provides a literature review of five pieces of scripture stones either excavated from or discovered at Chilbulam(Seven Buddha’s Hermitage) in Gyeongju and examines each piece in detail. Firstly, this paper shows that [Gyeongju 155] (large), which is known was a copy of Diamond Sutra(金剛經), is a version translated by Jiūmóluóshí(鳩摩羅什). Although little is known about [Gyeongju 155](small), [Gyeongju 200], and [Gyeongju 10586], this paper has discovered that they are identified as Sutra of the Vows of the Medicine Buddha(藥師琉璃光如來本{願功德 經) translated by Xuánzàng(玄奘) from Buddhist scriptures of the medicinal doctor (藥師經). In common with [Gyeongju 155](large), they are written in one line with thirty-five words. It has been also discovered that the contents of three pieces are in order of [Gyeongju 155](small), [Gyeongju 200], and [Gyeongju 10586]. Furthermore, The result of cross-checking says a letter deciphered as 完 in Gyeongju 155] (small) has turned out to be 宍, which was another letter for 肉. Similarly, old letters were used in replacement for several letters such as所. Lastly, the scripture stone owned by Suyeong Hwang has only two letters left on it, thus it is not difficult to know the title of the scripture. However, one surmise from the letters available that it is likely to be from Buddhist scriptures of the medicinal doctor(藥師經), rather than Diamond Sutra(金剛經).

본고는 新羅의 石經 중 경주 七佛庵에서 출토 혹은 발견된 石經 5片을 대상으로 그간의 논의를 되짚어 보고, 각 片에 대해 구체적으로 살핀 것이다. 먼저 [경주 155](大)는 그간 『金剛經』으로 알려진 조각인데 본고를 통해 金剛經의 여러 異譯 중 鳩摩羅什 번역본임이 밝혀졌다. 한편 [경주 155](小), [경주 200], [경주 10586]에 대해서는 그간 구체적인 언급이 없었으나 본고를 통해 약사경 중 玄奘 번역본인 『藥師琉璃光如來本願功德經』임이 밝혀졌다. [경주 155](大)와 마찬가지로 1행 36자로 되어 있으며 내용 상 [경주 155](小) - [경주200] - [경주 10586]의 순서임을 알 수 있었다. 校勘한 결과 [경주 155](小)에서 기존에 ‘完’이라고 판독한 글자는 ‘肉’의 異體字인 ‘宍’이며, ‘所’ 등도 古字를 사용하였다. 마지막으로 황수영 소장 칠불암 석경은 두 글자만 남아 있기 때문에 經名을 명확히 알 수 없다. 다만 남아 있는 글자로 추론해 보건대 금강경보다는 약사경일 가능성이 높은 것으로 보인다.
