The main purpose of this study was to examine the impact of spirituality on the parenting burden of mothers of children with disabilities. Data from 163 mothers of children with disabilities who had used social service facilities and a school for the disability. There are the research results. The level of parenting burden is different, based upon the kind of disabilities and age of child. Also the spirituality is positively correlated with education level of mother and an economic level, and the parenting burden is negatively correlated with the degree of disability, the number of family member and mother’s health. The spirituality is negatively correlated with the parenting burden. The result of the analysis on the level of spirituality and the parenting burden of mothers of children with disabilities showed that mother showed high level of the parenting burden and middle level of spirituality. Finally, the degree of disability and mother’s health had an direct effect on the parenting burden. And on stage2, the degree of disability, mother’s health, the level of spirituality of mother provided a negative effect on the parenting burden. Based on the results, suggestions were made for reducing and coping with the parenting burden of family of children with disabilities. However, to reduce the burden of family members with disabled child, social services and programs should be prepared to enhance the spirituality of mother. Besides that, further researches which is focused on various valuables which effect on the spirituality of mothers of children with disabilities should be conduced.

이 연구는 대구와 경북지역에 거주하는 장애아동 어머니 163명을 대상으로 장애아동 어머니의 영성 수준을 파악하고, 영성이 양욱부담에 미치는 영향을 분석하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 선행연구에서 장애아동 가족의 양육부담에 유 의미한 영향을 미치는 변인으로 밝혀진 가족의 인구·사회학적 변인을 통제한 상태에서 영성과 양육부담과의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 장애아동 어머 니의 영성은 4점 만점에 2.48점으로 중간정도의 영성을 가지는 것으로 나타났 으며, 영성은 어머니의 교육수준, 주관적 경제 수준과 유의미한 정적 상관관계 가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 양육부담은 5점 만점에 3.05점으로 중간정도의 수 준을 나타냈고, 장애아동이 고등학생일 경우보다 초등학생일 때 양육부담을 더 느끼며, 아동의 장애유형이 지적 장애나 기타 다른 종류의 장애를 가졌을 때보다 자폐성 장애를 가진 경우 양육부담이 큰 것으로 조사되었다. 통제변인 중에서 양육부담에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 변인으로는 장애아동의 장애등급 과 어미니의 건강상태인 것으로 나타났으며, 인구·사회학적 변인을 통제한 상태에서 어머니의 영성은 양육부담에 부적 영향력을 가지는 것으로 밝혀졌 다. 이 연구결과를 바탕으로 장애아동 가족에 대한 사회복지의 실천적 함의와 향후 연구를 위한 제언을 제시했다.
