This research focused on the analysis of research trend and issue on the human rights education during these five years. All 68 theses and 72 dissertations had been carefully analyzed and could be divided into five categories; a general theory of human rights education, awareness of human rights education, curriculum of human rights education, pedagogy of human rights education . Research trend on the human rights education may be summed up like this: 1)The number of research has grown continually 2) curriculum of human rights education make up the largest part of the research contents. Research issues on the human rights education focused on the direction of human rights education, human rights education in university. As for the direction of human rights education, Right to human rights education, Reinforcement of the human rights capability, Value and movement oriented human rights education. Rights based approach to education, Integrated Approach are highlighted. But The result of analysis showed that research and human rights education practice in university has been flat. In conclusion, For the reinforcement of the human rights education research, It needs to develop theory linked practice, to secure research environment, to support research by government organization.

본 연구는 최근 5년간의 인권교육 관련 연구 성과를 검토하고 연구 동향 및 연구 쟁점을 정리하였다. 68편의 학위논문과 72편의 학술논문을 포함하여 모두 140편의 연구를 분석하였다. 그리고 연구성과를 인권교육총론, 인권의식, 인권교육과정, 인권교육방법, 기타의 5개 영역으로 나누어 연구동향을 살펴보았다. 다양한 학문 및 실천 분야에서 인권교육의 필요성이 논의되고, 인권교육이 확산되고 있는 현실을 반영하듯이 인권교육 연구 성과들이 꾸준히 발표되고 있다. 학위 논문은 인권 관련 내용분석과 프로그램 개발에 관한 논문이 다수를 이루며, 학술논문은 총론을 비롯하여 연구 주제가 넓었다. 연구쟁점은 인권교육의 방향, 대학 인권교육 중심으로 살펴보았다. 인권교육의 방향에 대한 논의에서는 인권교육 받을 권리의 보장 , 개인의 역량 강화, 인권교육의 가치지향성 및 운동성, 인권 기반교육, 통합적 접근 등이 강조되었다. 그러나 대학 인권교육은 제2차 세계인권교육프로그램 행동계획에서의 강조에도 불구하고 연구와 실천 모두 부진하였다. 마지막으로 인권교육 연구가 활성화되기 위해서는 실천과 연계된 이론적 논의의 전개, 인권교육 연구 기반의 조성, 국가기구와의 역할 조정 등이 필요하다고 제언하였다.
