‘Room’ and ‘Window’ are one of the most important symbols of poetry, to reveal the self-consciousness and the attitude of poets. And they are the symbolic spaces of the innermost world of poet, but not the space of physical, or social and historical. Therefore ‘room’ and ‘window’ become the space of imagination to link dream and reality, and past, present and future. This study aims to examine the symbolic meanings of ‘room’ by analysing the Korean modern poems, as the communication and the passage of the expression of attitudes of poet-self. ‘window’. As the results, it was recognized that the symbolic meanings of 'room' are the space of self-starring and transcendental meditation to Yun Dong Ju, the space of self-expanding and tragic self-affirmation to Lee Yuk Sa, and the space of self-innovation through self-reflection and self-discipline to Sim Yeon Su.
