The present study examined the relationships of the academic self-efficacy and task values of English, achievement goal, academic efforts, cognitive strategies and English academic achievement among Korean middle and high school students. The study proposed a testing model based on the previous researches and examined the contribution of each variable on English academic achievement between middle and high school students. In testing of the structural model invariance across the groups, almost no significant difference was found in the comparison of the base-line model with cross-group equality constrained models. Academic self-efficacy of English and cognitive strategies appeared to influence on English academic achievement in both groups; no significant effect of task value, achievement goal and academic efforts on English academic achievement was found in both groups. The present study implied the importance of student’s academic self-efficacy to improve academic achievement. Also, the result implied the necessity of implement of cognitive strategies in order to improve the students' academic performance.

본 연구에서는 중고등학생을 대상으로 영어교과에 대한 학업적 자기효능감, 과제가치, 성취목표, 학업노력 및 인지전략과 영어 학업성취와의 관계를 살펴보고, 변인간의 구조를 살펴보았다. 중· 고등학생 집단에 따라 차이가 있는지를 살펴보기 위하여 다집단 분석을 실시하였으며 분석결과 중학생 집단이 고등학생 집단에 비하여 모든 변인에서 높은 점수를 보고하였다. 연구모형을 검증해 본 결과 영어교과에 대한 학업적 자기효능감과 과제가치는 중·고등학생들의 학업노력, 인지전략활용에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 학업노력 역시 인지전략을 설명하고 있었다. 영어교과 학업성취를 설명하는데 영어교과의 학업적 자기효능감과인지전략이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과로 학생들의 영어교과의 학업성취를 높이기 위하여 학습동기적인 측면을 강조하고, 인지전략의 중요성을 강조할 필요가 있음을 논의하였고, 현장 적용과 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
