The purpose of this study is to examine the way of representation of digital design and theoretical approach in the work of Peter Eisenman's 'The City of Culture of Galicia(Galicia project). According to Eisenman’s description, Galicia project has a meaning that changing his work(from index to codex) and the new design is the use of digital technology is at the core of the change. Galicia project by an active use of digital technology in his new work became more theoretical. At first, this study is focused on the analysis of the diagrams of generated form by the design motif and digital technology in Galicia project, and then compare Eisenman's previous design projects with Galicia project. It represents that Eisenman's theoretical work and his way of using digial technology becomes very useful method to anlayze the creation way of his works.

본 연구는 피터 아이젠만의 작업인 ‘The City of Culture of Galicia’(갈리시아 프로젝트)의 디지털 디자인의 표현과 이론적 접근방식에 대하여 살펴보는 것을 그 목적으로 하고 있다. 아이젠만은 그의 갈리시아 프로 젝트를 통하여 과거 자신의 인덱스적인 디자인이 코덱스의 새로운 디자인으로 넘어가게 되고 그 변화의 핵심에 바로 디지털 테크놀로지의 활용이 있다고 설명하고 있다. 아이젠만은 갈리시아 프로젝트를 통하여 디지털 테크놀로지를 적극적으로 활용함으로써 자신의 새로운 작업에 한층 더 그 이론적 깊이를 더하고 있다. 본 연구는 먼저 갈리시아 프로젝트의 디자인 모티프와 디지털 테크놀로지에 의한 이미지 및 형태생 성 다이어그램에 초점을 맞춰 분석을 진행하고, 갈리시아 프로젝트 이전에 디지털 방식으로 설계한 아이 젠만의 다른 디자인 사례들과 비교분석한다. 이는 아이젠만의 이론적 작업과 디지털 테크놀로지의 활용이 그의 작품의 생성방식에 대한 분석에 매우 유요한 도구가 되고 있음을 보여주는 것이다.
