This study establishes a relationship between time and moving image work and through time theory review, looks into expanded time structure that appears in experimental film and video art, which are the line of image oriented, non-narrative works. I examine the meaning of Time Art, that the time which is the foundation of life and the arts come together and how the imitation and reproduction of complete reality transformed reality and explore time theory of the representative time sculptors from ancient times, Gilles Deleuze and Henri Bergson to draw the unknown topic, the time. Furthermore, it presents the Expanded Time Theory that explains unique time structure of experimental film and video art works that value the archetype itself of moving image. Through this, we have an opportunity to identify how two keywords, 'Time' and 'Moving' of Time Art are entrenched in experimental film and video art works and give attention to distinguishing 'Time Experience' of experimental film and video art.

본 논문은 시간(Time)과 영상작품과의 관계를 설정하고 시간이론(Time Theory)의 고찰을 통해 비내러 티브(Non-Narrative) 작품 계열인 실험영화와 비디오아트에서 발견되는 다양한 층위의 확장된 시간구 조에 관해 연구하고자 한다. 생명의 근간인 시간이 예술과 만난 시간예술(Time Art)의 의미 그리고 완 벽한 현실의 모방과 재현은 현실을 또 어떻게 변모시켰는지 살펴보고 시간이라는 미지의 화두를 풀 기위한 고대로부터의 시간 조각가들 대표적으로 들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze)와 베르그송(Henri Bergson)의 시간이론을 탐구한다. 나아가 무빙이미지(Moving Image)의 시간적 원형 자체를 중시하는 실험영화와 비디오아트 작품들만의 독특한 시간구조를 설명할 수 있는 확장된 시간이론(Expanded Time Theory) 을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 통해 ‘시간(Time)'과 '움직임(Moving)'이라는 시간예술의 중요한 두 개의 키 워드가 실험영화와 비디오아트 작품들 속에 어떻게 자리 잡고 있는지 확인해 보는 계기가 될 것이며 실험영화와 비디오아트만의 특징적 ’시간 경험(Time Experience) ‘을 환기할 수 있을 것이다
