As other related fields of forensic science, classic forensic handwriting examination is primarily based upon the knowledge and experiences of the forensic expert. Recently, computers are being used for handwriting examination. English letters are simple and Korean characters have complex stroke crossing. Handwriting identification mainly divide into compare of the identical character and complex structure analysis. If handwritings have only few identical characters even none, handwriting examination cannot work. The analysis is required about consonantal characters and vowel characters which compose the Hangul. In this study, 10 Hangul giyeok of a first consonant and a final consonant were measured in 10 samples of handwriting. The result of this study can be used as a basic data of comparison on handwriting by identifying consistency of features and relative individualization of handwriting.

필적감정은 법과학 전문가의 경험과 지식에 주로 기초를 두고 있는 전통적인 방법을 사용하였으나 최근에는 컴퓨터가 필적감정에 사용되기 시작하였다. 그러나 영어 문자는 단순하고 알파벳의 나열로 이루어져 있지만 한글의 경우 교차되는 획이 복합적인 문자로 구성되어 있어 컴퓨터를 이용한 한글필적감정에 어려움이 있다. 현재 필적 비교 방법은 동일문자를 비교하는 방법, 문자 구성 분석을 기초로 하는 방법이 사용되고 있다. 만약에 필적에 동일한 문자가 없으면 필적 비교에 어려움이 발생할 수 있다.따라서 한글을 구성하고 있는 자음과 모음에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구는 성인 10명에게서 채취한 시필에서 한글 초성 및 종성 자음 ‘ㄱ’ 각 10개의 특징점을 측정하고 개인별로 항상성을 가지는 특징점을 확인하였으며 측정값의 사분위수를 활용한 시필자 식별을 확인하여 필적 비교의 기초 자료로 사용하고자 하였다.
