This study focus to examining Track and Field events in the Soviet Union in respect of history of sport and is intended to provide basic data for researching history of sport in the Soviet Union. Results of examination can be summarized as follow: Firstly, before the Russian Revolution, Track and Field of the Soviet Union were originated from festival games and the daily life of Russian peoples from ancient days. Secondly, the Russian Revolution largely devotes to the development of Russian Sports. Thirdly, Track and Field of the Soviet Union showed genuine aspects as a powerful nation of Track and Field since Moscow Olympic Game in 1980. To conclude, Track and Field in the Soviet Union rapidly developed by lead of the Government since the Russian Revolution. The Government actively used sports for efficient public relations and obtaining of a national image of the Soviet Union in the international stage, and developed sports as means for preventing national split which is a limit of federation and for improving productivity of the labor class.
