The study employs efforts firstly to reexamine the economic contribution of regional tourism to the constituting economies of South Asia in terms of national income share,employment absorption, tourist income and expenditure in juxtaposition to those of South Korea. This seeks secondly to investigate the comparative tourism attainments in case study of one South Asian country (Bangladesh) and Korea in the light of additional parameters, i.e., tourism spending, capital investments and world heritage growths. Then an economic reality of tourism perspectives of Bangladesh is portrayed additionally to exemplify that shortcomings under regional cooperation in desirable tourism development necessitate bilateral investment initiatives with complementary economies like South Korea having proven tract of development and investment expertise. With this purpose, the paper consequently conducts the SWOT analysis for tourism FDI in Bangladesh sketching out the list of potential projects that can be developed for bilateral advantages beyond regional frameworks delineating economic justifications. Briefly browsing on the required national policy imperatives and given conditions the study finally presents the implications for reciprocal investment cooperation with South Korea and finds that the prospects for Korean tourism in Bangladesh are rather brighter among the other South Asian economies, and that such phenomena can both raise income and preserve natural and cultural resources so much so that specific country-centered investment would fairly strengthen contributions to regional as well as global tourism objectives by South Korea.

본 논문은 한국의 경우와 함께 남아시아에서 지역관광이 국민소득에서 차지하는 비율, 고용 창출, 관광소득과 지출 측면에서 국가경제에 어떻게 기여하는가를 연구하게 된다. 그리고 추가적인 변수인 한국과 방글라데시의 관광지출, 자본투자, 세계자본유산의 확대 등의 조사를 통해 관광의 상대적 이점을 분석하게 된다. 특히 방글라데시의 관광전망에 대한 경제적 실상을 제시하여 바람직한 관광개발을 위한 지역적 협조가 부족한 상황에서 개발과 투자의 전문성과 역사를 가진 한국과 같은 동반자적 경제의 협력 투자가 필요함을 제시한다. 이러한 목표를 가지고, 본 연구는 경제적 타당성을 부각시키면서 지역적 구조를 넘어 상호 이익의 관점에서 개발 가능한 잠재적 프로젝트를 제시하며 방글라데시 관광분야 외국인 직접투자를 위한 SWOT분석을 실시한다. 또한 요구되는 국가정책 및 주어진 조건들을 살펴보면서 한국의 상호호혜적 투자협력의 의미를 추론하고 다른 여타 남아시아 경제권보다 방글라데시에서의 한국 관광 관련 전망이 더 밝다는 것을 제시하며, 그것은 동시에 양국의 소득을 증진시키고 자연과 문화자원을 보존하게 됨으로써 한국의 특정 국가 중심 투자가 세계는 물론 지역내의 관광진흥에 기여하는 바가 크다는 것을 보여줄 것이다.
