In the study of Myeongri(命理), yongsin(用神) is the basis and the criteria, as a interpreter of the success and failure of fortune in the lifetime. Therefore, the research studies on yongsin are critical when you study on the Myeongri-hak(命理學). That has the same importance like a cure-all potions. However, it is true that in spite of this important role of yongsin, it does not always play a role as the cure-all potions. For example, when yongsin comes, you may make money, but you may get sick at the same time, and you may even promote, but your wife may dead at the same time. It means yongsin is the alternative standard that guarantees success, but it could not be the cure-all potion at all. While living life, it is true that a fortune and a disaster appears together at the same time, this phenomenon was not explained accurately by the existing theory of yongsin. The traditional yongsin theory of Myeongrihak interprets that when yongsin comes, there will bo a lot of unfortunate things. That is the limitation of traditional yongsin theory of Myeongri-hak. It cannot explain accurately which one is going to be get better or worse during the same time. Many theories were developed to solve this problem, Yeo-ssi(呂氏) Myeongri-hak is the one among them which is the most articulate theory. In particular, Yeo-ssi Myeongri-hak provides more explicit explanation of what aspects of one's life will get better or worse. And it is the advantage of Yeo-ssi Myeongri-hak. Yeo-ssi Myeongri-hak rejects the traditional yongsin theory, and organizes sipsin( 十神) which controls the that matter, it interprets the success and failure of fortune on individual case in the base of the representative meaning of sipsin and the way of this works on a combination. It's own performance was achieved by trying to overcome the limitations of the traditional yongsin theory. Finally, it can explain the reason theoretically why the interpretation differs from one case to another, and why the several fortune and unfortune occurs as a combination of events as in certain period.

명리학(命理學)에서 용신(用神)은 인생의 여러 가지 길흉 성패의 해석에 있어서 판단의 기준과 근거가 된다. 그러므로 명리학의 연구에서는 용신에 대한 연구가 가장 핵심이 되는 것으로, 용신은 만병통치약과 같은 중요성을 가지고 있으며 용신이 운에서 오면 그 운에는 만사형통한다고 해석하는 것이 일반적이다. 그러나 용신의 역할이 중요한 것은 사실 이지만, 용신이 언제나 만사형통의 작용을 하는 것은 아니다. 예를 들면, 용신운에 돈을 벌기는 했지만 병을 얻어 사망하기도 하고, 용신운에 승진은 했지만 극처하기도 한다. 용신이 길흉 성패의 대체적인 기준이 되는 것은 사실이지만 만사형통을 가져오는 묘약은 아닌 것이다. 인생을 사는 동안에 길흉이 섞여 나타나는 경우가 많은데, 이런 현상을 기존의 용신 론(用神論)으로는 정확하게 설명하는 데 한계가 있었다. 용신운(用神運)이면 좋은 일이 많을 것이라고 해석할 뿐이지, 구체적으로 어떤 점이 좋아지고 어떤 점이 나빠지는지는 정확하게 설명하지 못하는 것이 기존 전통 명리학의 용신론이 지니고 있는 한계였다. 이 문제를 해결하려고 개발된 학설 가운데 가장 논리 정연한 학설이 바로 여씨(呂氏) 명리학이다. 여 씨 명리학은 인생의 특정한 시점에서 어떤 측면이 좋아지고 어떤 측면이 나빠지는지를 좀 더 분명하게 분석할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있다. 여씨 명리학은 기존의 용신론을 배격하고, 용신 대신 각각의 사안마다 그 사안을 주관하는 십신(十神)을 배정하고, 그 십신의 대표 의미와 십신 작용 방식의 조합에 근거해서 개별적 사안의 길흉을 해석함으로써 기존 용신론의 한계를 극복하려고 시도하여 나름대로 성과를 거두었다. 동일한 사주라고 해도 여러 가지 사안마다 길흉의 해석이 달라지고 일정한 시기에 여러 가지 길흉 화복의 사건이 복합적으로 일어나는 이유를 이론적으로 설명할 수 있게 된 것이다.
