The purpose of this study was to investigate the purpose and the methods of intervention for clients according to their ages. This research is based on the survey of 100 music therapists in Korea and the result are as follows. First, the ages of music therapists and his or her working place, methods of intervention are different depending on their main clients. Second, child clients are intervened to improve their social connection by re-creative playing. Third, adult clients are intervened to improve their self-esteem or emotional aspect like pleasure or stress management by playing re-creative playing or singing. Genre of music used is popular music. Last, creative playing are used for elder clients to improve their memory and reminiscence and the trot is mainly used.

이 연구는 국내에서 활동 중인 음악치료사를 대상으로 치료 대상 및 중재 방법을 알아보고자 한 것이다. 총 100명을 대상으로 주력하고 있는 임상 대상을 연령별로 구분하여 중재 목적과 방법을 조사하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 치료사들의 연령, 근무지 형태, 세션형태는 주력대상에 따라 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 아동을 대상으로 하는 치료사들은 주로 자폐아동을 대상으로 사회성 향상을 목적으로 재창조 악기연주를 효과적인 방법으로 적용하고 있었다. 셋째, 성인을 대상으로 하는 경우는 자긍심 향상, 즐거움이나 스트레스 등 정서적인 면에 초점을 맞춘 중재를 하고 있으며 주로 재창조악기연주나 노래부르기 등을 하고 있었다. 주로 사용하는 음악은 대중음악이었다. 마지막으로 노인을 대상으로 하는 경우는 치매 노인을 대상으로 회고나 기억 향상을 위해 창조적 악기연주를 적용하며 대부분 대중가요 중에서 트로트 음악을 적용하고 있었다.
