The purpose of this study is to examine the correlation between the acquisition of relative clauses and their relative frequency in the textbooks. Through the survey to the university students and the analysis of the frequency of the different relative pronouns in middle school English textbooks, this paper shows that the frequency of relative pronouns definitely affects the degree of difficulties Korean EFL learners have in the acquisition of different relative pronouns. Also, the result of the survey corresponded to the Accessibility Hierarchy by Keen and Comrie (1977) and Gass (1979), and the parallel function by Sheldon(1974). In addition, it shows the accessibility hierarchy, the parallel function, and the frequency in acquiring the relative pronouns correlate to each other.
