There are various mobile service platforms that struggle for competitive advantage in mobile service market. They can be considered as networked value constellations, in which various organizations cooperate with other organizations to jointly create and deliver value to consumers. That is, mobile services are offered by a constellation of organizations rather than by one. This study focuses on how a mobile service platform create value proposition and how organizations in the platform cooperate with each other. For this purpose, we present a conceptual framework for analyzing platform competitions with regard to value business model. The framework is developed based on business modeling techniques that demonstrate the economic value exchanged among the organizations participating in the platforms. In addition, we describe how to analyze business-IT alignments in the platforms by using value business model, and link the business-IT alignments in the platforms to each individual organization’s position.
