This study is aimed at arguing three perspectives as below; first, newspapers provide the appropriate information on disasters, second, newspapers report in objective and correct way and last, newspapers observe reporting regulations. This paper analyses attitude towards reporting on earthquake and nuclear leaks by Tsunami in Japan by Chosun Ilbo, Donga Ilbo, The Hankyoreh and The Gyunghyang Shinmun from 11th March to 26th March 2011 for two weeks. These four newspapers transferred enough information on two disasters, but reporting regulations were not properly observed. Therefore, it is needed that reporting regulations are prepared and reporting system and reporting principals are also established. This study is important to not only set up quantitative method for reporting regulations which had been suggested as problem and solution but also measure disaster reports by analyzing their contents.

본 연구에서는 신문 보도가 재난보도로서 얼마나 적절한 정보를 제공하고 있는가 그리 고 얼마나 객관적이고 정확한 보도를 하고 있는가에 주목하고, 이를 위한 보도 준칙 이 신문보도에 준수되고 있는지의 여부를 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 조선일보와 동아일 보 그리고 한겨레와 경향신문의 일본 지진과 쓰나미 방사능 유출 방송에 대한 2011년 3월 11 일부터 26일까지 2주간의 보도태도를 분석하였는데, 이들 4개 신문은 정보 전달에는 충실한 반면, 보도준칙이 준수되지 않고 있어서 보도준칙의 마련과 취재체계와 보도원칙의 정립에 대한 필요성이 있다는 결론을 얻게 되었다. 본 연구는 그동안 재난보도를 분석하면서 늘 문제 점과 대안으로 제시되고 있던 보도준칙을 계량화하고 이를 내용분석으로 측정하고 있다는 데 의의가 있다.
