Today the world is integrated into a huge single market to establish a sense of cultural identity which is becoming more important. Although, based on cultural identity, an image creation status competitiveness is vital to secure, Korea does not give the identity of its culture in the international community compared to the surrounding country like China and Japan. Cultural identity is represented through an emphasis on tradition and rite. In this study, we are going to study the lattice pattern of Changdeokgung in order to find the cultural identity of Korea in the classic values ​​of traditional culture. The lattice of Changdeokgung is the best idea for this study because it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage, is the most well-preserved and is used in a variety of forms. This study is focusing on unique sprit and characteristics of Korea in it and is looking at the success of the lattice pattern design attempted. This shows inheritance and expansion of tradition can also be urgent as reconfiguration of tradition. Because inherit and conserve our own tradition is the most important key to maintain our cultural identity in the international community. The writing becomes one method of approach about mould essence of Korean design.

본 논문은 전통창살문양의 고전적 가치를 통해서 디자인 브랜드화의 문화정체성 확립을 위한 디자인 개발 전략과 방안에 관한 연구이다. 오늘날 문화정체성이 국가 경쟁력의 원천으로 인식되면서 세계 각국의 노력이 가중되고 있다. 그런데도 우리나라는 국제 사회에서 디자인 브랜드화에 따른 문화 정체성을 주지시키지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 이는 많은 원인들이 있겠으나 주요한 원인으로는 고전적 가치 인식 부족이 디자인 브랜드화에 따른 정체성 획득의 실패 요인으로 분석되었다. 따라서 창덕궁 창살문양의 고전적 가치 해석을 통해 정체성 확립 방안을 모색하고자 했다. 실증적 자료가 현존하는 창덕궁을 방문하여 그 특성을 직접 살펴보고 문헌 고찰 등을 통해 기하학적 조형성의 차별적 핵심 가치를 도출할 수 있었다. 먼저, 내용적 측면에서는 창덕궁 창살 문양은 전통 조형사상과 고유문화 이념 등이 잘 반영된 것으로 나타났으며 형태론적 측면에서는 기하학적 선과 조형미는 문화원형의 재해석이나 변형을 하지 않아도 현대화 표출 가능성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 한국 디자인의 조형적 본질 접근에 대한 하나의 방법이 될 것이다.
