This research aims to study landscape image traits of urban street space and street buildings, based on main street in the district plan of new town which has gone through dramatic change resulted from the recent land use for residents and commerce. The following is the summary of the result of entailing problems and analysis. First, Studying street is populated. It is because it is close to grand commercial businesses and exhibition facilities that contain a floating population. However, less population is detected around on paved road in the site, since it has less pedestrians. Especially, large scale residence and office areas destroy the scenic beauty of mountains. What is more, the imbalance of skyline is found, caused by difference of elevation with row-rise business facilities. Second, building facing street side have been lead pedestrian convenience by securing privately owned public space through setback of buildings line. It, however, still needs more work on continuity of street due to the irregularity and insufficiency of depth. Third, in analysis of the spatial connection status with street and building, most of large scale building secure the public open space in building facade. the ground level entrance of shopping mall type apartment and small scale facilities in multipurpose buildings turns out to be void of open space that is contiguous to street. The the sense of entrance at street is secured, but reserve space in front is lacking. Additionally, flexibility in walking and continuity of street are insufficient. Forurth, the exterior image of architecture front on the main street is mostly consisted of a curtain wall. It has been found that the exterior color is the mixture of glass facade of blue color, large scale residences of white color and facilitis of yellow color.

본 연구는 도시가로공간의 질적 개선을 위한 시도로서 최근 주거·상업중심의 토지이용으로 인하여 급격하게 변화되는 신시가지형 계획지구 중심가로를 대상으로 도시가로공간과 가로변건축물의 구성요소에 따른 제반 문제점과 그 특성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 특히, 가로변건축물의 외형적 형태가 가로상에서 시각적으로 어떻게 표출되는가를 분석함으로써 도시가로와의 관계성에 따른 경관적 특성을 파악하고자 한다.
