The form of rural houses are changing, due to expansion of urban space and construction of modern apartment in near rural houses or rural area. So the purpose of this study is to provide data about changing rural houses form and rural houses feature in rural cultural village and to suggest the direction on the future image of rural houses. The scope of study are the houses of three rural cultural village (village names-Jangsoo, Bonghyeon and Leesan villages) in yeongju city. The research methods was used face to face talk, survey to know correlation between resident and houses form, and took a picture houses to analysis houses form. The subject of survey are 65 houses in three rural cultural villages but 12 houses of those did not survey. The study results are as follow : Most people who live in houses of rural cultural villages are engaged in various jobs of urban. The people who had highly educated prefer the detached house type of rural cultural villages because they can experience extensive grounds, natural environment in there and it include lifestyle of their family which can not experience in urban house type. The level of happiness in houses of the rural cultural village had some connection with house type before moving to the rural cultural villages. (People who had lived in apartments happiness index came in at 85.43 out of 100 but people who had lived in detached houses happiness index came in at 81.25 out of 100) The houses in rural cultural villages are using the various materials and windows of two types or more on the outside wall and its had various roof forms. 도시의 공간구조 확대와 농촌지역에 인접한 신도시의 아파트 건축으로 인하여 농촌주택은 도시형 주택들과 혼재되면서 많은 변화가 나타나고 있다. 그래서 이 연구의 목적은 변화하는 농촌주택의 형태와 문화마을의 주택형태에 관한 자료제공과 미래 문화마을의 주택 형태를 제안하고자 한다. 연구의 대상은 영주시에 위치하고 있는 3개의 문화마을이며, 직접 면접조사와 설문을 통하여 수집한 자료를 분석하였다. 조사대상 가구는 65호이며 12호는 설문에 응하지 않아 제외하였다. 연구결과는 대부분 거주자는 도시의 다양한 직업에 종사하였고, 높은 학력을 가진 거주자들은 도시에서 경험하지 못하는 넓은 대지, 자연, 그리고 가족의 생활 사이클의 담을 수 있기 때문에 문화마을주택을 선호하는 것으로 조사되었다. 그리고 행복지수의 경우 문화마을 주택에 거주하기 전 도시의 아파트에 생활한 경험이 있는 거주자가 다른 주택형태에 거주한 거주자 보다 높게 나타났다. 그리고 문화마을의 주택들은 농촌주택임에도 불구하고 기존의 농촌주택에서 볼 수 있는 박공지붕과 같은 단순한 형태가 아닌 다양한 형태와 입면의 당양한 창문형태 그리고 다양한 건축재료를 사용하고 있어 2000년 이전의 문화마을주택들과는 많은 차이가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.
