The first purpose of this study is the direction of a cruise terminal, was located in Jeju outer harbor and completed in 2011. In addition, the second purpose of this is to find the ways to improve on the cruise tour business after building a dedicated cruise terminal. First, this study was reviewed cruise facilities in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong that the cruise tour business in Asia has been brisk recently for this. Through the analysis of international practices, the construction concept of a cruise terminal in Jeju outer harbor is set and the development plan of the cruise tour business in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is presented. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has two master plans of building cruise terminals in Jeju outer harbor and Kangjung Where the future of the cruise facilities that get taken in this study suggest the installation facilities for cruise and cruise tour business in the direction of the configuration of the revitalization plan will be required to consider. This cruise is introducing a new concept of architectural culture of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, as well as the local economy, faced with a difficult situation, even serve as a new economy power.

본 연구는 2011년 완공된 제주외항 크루즈부두 내에 위치할 크루즈 전용터미널의 건립방향 설정에 그 첫 번째 목적을 두고 있다. 또한 크루즈 전용터미널이 건립되어 본격화 될 제주특별자치도의 크루즈 관광산업에 대한 미래지향적 개선방안을 모색하는 데 두 번째의 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 우선 아시아 지역 중 크루즈관광이 가장 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 싱가포르, 말레이시아 그리고 홍콩의 크루즈시설들에 대한 고찰을 하였고, 해외의 사례에 대한 분석을 통해 첫째로 제주외항 크루즈터미널의 구성 개념을 설정하였다. 그리고 두 번째로 제주특별자치도에서의 크루즈관광산업의 발전방안을 제시하였다. 현재 제주특별자치도에는 제주외항과 강정에 각각 크루즈시설이 계획되고 있다. 향후 이 중 어느 곳에 크루즈시설이 설치되더라고 본 연구에서 제시하는 크루즈시설의 구성방향과 크루즈관광산업의 활성화 방안을 고려하여 계획하여야 할 것이다. 이는 새롭게 도입되는 크루즈관광이라는 개념이 제주특별자치도의 건축문화뿐 아니라 어려운 상황에 처해있는 지역경제에도 새로운 동력으로 작용할 것이기 때문이다.
